The Nike PG 3 “NASA” is an official collaboration from Nike Basketball and NASA on Paul George’s third signature basketball shoe. The special construction takes inspiration from NASA flight gear as well as NASA’s Armstrong Building 703 in George’s hometown of Palmdale, California. Sporting a look that drew influence by the NASA research facility in George’s hometown of Palmdale, California, the low top showcases Oklahoma City Thunder colors and enhanced performance engineering. A lightweight build, a circular traction pattern, and a seamless fit inform the shoe, as well as the tongue that is integrated into the collar.
Dressed in a Total Orange, Black, and Metallic Silver color scheme. This Nike PG 3 features a vibrant Orange mesh upper paired with Silver detailing and mismatched Red and Blue overlays on the forefoot. Other details includes embroidery on the tongue and heel with a space theme, while having official NASA logos on the left heel and each insole. The PG 3’s lightness comes from the use of soft, lightweight foam and a rip-stop collar, all atop the same Nike Zoom Air bag from the PG 2. The circular traction on the outsole was inspired by moon craters — a pattern built using algorithms from various analyses of PG’s movement. The shoe also has an Apollo 14 patch on the heel, a red “Remove Before Flight” tag, and both PG’s logo and the American flag on the tongues.
