555088-063 Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘’Bred Patent’’ release information

Do you (really) know the history of the Air Jordan 1?

We are asking you the question once again today because we have noticed that few are able to distinguish the true from the false about it, and more precisely on the ban of its color “ Bred ” by the NBA. It must be said that at the time of the facts, Nike displayed a formidably skilful communication to hijack the decision taken by the American basketball league to its advantage. And no, contrary to what the Swoosh brand led to believe in a 1985 advertising spot, the Air Jordan 1 Bred was not banned from the parquet floors because of its colors which did not respect the NBA dress code, unlike the Nike Air Ship with which Michael Jordan made his debut in the top flight. Still, it was the Air Jordan 1 that made headlines and made history, along with its black and red version that collectors covet more than ever. A variation that will make a noticeable return on October 23 in a new patent leather finish renamed “Bred Patent” for the occasion.

An Air Jordan 1 “Bred” in patent leather for fall 2021.
Notice to all fans of Michael Jordan and his signature signature shoes. The most iconic of them, the Air Jordan 1, will land this fall in a remix of its legendary “Black / Red” colorway, better known as “Bred”. As we explained previously, however, this 2021 vintage is not exactly identical to the pair that MJ presumably wore for the first time during the All-Star Game 1985 dunk contest. ‘a high black and red leather upper associated with a white sole edged with a reminder of red, you will no doubt have noticed that the upper part of the shoe, called in the jargon “ upper’ ‘, has been covered with a varnish which gives all its meaning to the name attributed to this edition “Bred Patent”. With all due respect to purists in search of authenticity who will undoubtedly go their way, the Air Jordan 1 ” Bred Patent ” is in our opinion a success insofar as it brings a welcome touch of modernism to an old icon. 35 years old, while preserving its DNA. So much so that we would be tempted to wonder why Nike’s creative teams hadn’t thought about it sooner …

As of this writing, we do not yet have official photos of the pair. Stay tuned to Retro Jordan 2021 for more in the weeks and months to come.
